Housatonic Valley Regional High School (HVRHS) Solar Installation Project Falls Village, Connecticut

Environmental Systems Co. (ESC), A Fidelity Company, has recently completed a major solar installation at Housatonic Valley Regional High School (HVRHS). The project includes two solar arrays with a combined capacity of more than 200 kW, designed to reduce the school’s reliance on traditional energy sources and drive long-term cost savings.

With the project complete, and all panels installed on the north and south systems, full commissioning is expected shortly. Once operational, the system is projected to generate more than 330,000 kWh of clean energy in its first year alone, helping the school lock in predictable energy costs and achieve meaningful long-term savings. Over the next 20 years, HVRHS is expected to save approximately $218,000.

This solar initiative builds on a long-standing partnership between ESC and HVRHS. In recent years, ESC has upgraded the school’s HVAC, mechanical, and lighting systems, improving efficiency, and reducing operating costs. Together, these improvements have strengthened the school’s commitment to sustainability while ensuring a comfortable, high-performing learning environment.

NEW EV CHARGING STATIONS COMING TO THE TOWN OF EAST LYME

Environmental Systems Co. (ESC), a Fidelity Building Services Group company and leading provider of building technology solutions throughout New England, recently partnered with the Town of East Lyme, Connecticut, to bring new, high-performance Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure to the community.

In alignment with the Town’s 2020 Plan of Conservation and Development, ESC helped design, procure, and install a network of strategically located EV charging stations, future-proofed to accommodate evolving technology and increasing demand.

At the Town Hall, ESC installed two 50kW DCFC (fast charging) stations and prepared the site for an additional four 9.98kW Level 2 stations. In the Hope Street and Methodist Street public parking lots, ESC delivered two single-port, dual-mounted Level 2 stations at each location, operating at the highest amperage available (80 amps / 19.2kW). All sites are equipped with a Network Access Package (NAP) for load management and scalability.

To optimize efficiency and reduce long-term operating costs, each site received a dedicated new service from Eversource exclusively for EV charging. This allows the Town to participate in the EV Rate Rider Program, which reduces demand charges and helps maintain low user fees.

ESC served as the project’s design-build lead, and secured substantial Eversource rebates for the Town—$248,500 for the Level 3 stations and $40,000 for the Level 2 sites—totaling $328,500 in funding.

All installations meet the U.S. Access Board’s design recommendations for accessibility, ensuring inclusive use through careful attention to space sizing, mounting heights, and equipment placement.

The new EV charging stations are located at:

Town Hall – Rear parking lot behind Probate Court, 108 (or 118) Pennsylvania Avenue
Hope Street Public Parking Lot – Exit at 11 Hope Street
Methodist Street Public Parking Lot – Entrance at 5 Methodist Street

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – July 7, 2025 – Environmental Systems Co. (ESC), a Fidelity Building Services Group (Fidelity) company and leading provider of building technology solutions throughout Connecticut, is pleased to announce the promotion of Mike Amedeo to President.

Amedeo brings more than 30 years of experience in building systems—including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, building automation, and security—to his new role. As President, he will lead ESC’s strategic vision and operations with a strong focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, team development, and long-term business growth. A collaborative leader, Amedeo is committed to continuing ESC’s legacy of delivering high-performing building solutions and exceptional service.

Amedeo joined ESC in 2009 as the Energy Division Manager before being promoted to Vice President of Sales in 2019 and to Executive Vice President in 2021. In these roles, he oversaw the strategic direction and daily operations across multiple divisions, including Automation, Security, Fire/Life Safety, Energy Solutions, Audio Visual, and Mechanical Services.

Amedeo’s promotion follows the retirement of Mike Mullin, who has served as President of ESC with outstanding leadership, professionalism, and vision. Mullin joined ESC in 2011 and was instrumental in leading continuous improvement initiatives and strengthening the company’s operational and financial performance. Since ESC became part of Fidelity in 2023, Mullin played a key role in aligning the company with Fidelity’s long-term goals and values.
