Mr. McCurdy is the founder and Chairman of ESC. He started ESC in 1972 as an HVAC equipment representative. Today, ESC is a nationally recognized organization in the industry of building automation, security and access systems, energy management solutions, fire and life safety systems, and a full range of mechanical services. His philosophy of creative approaches and solutions for clients’ problems along with superior service is an important key to the growth and success of ESC. Mr. McCurdy holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.
Mr. Craig McCurdy joined ESC in 1977. He has extensive experience in business development, project finance, and operations within the automated controls, security systems, and mechanical services industries. Mr. McCurdy is responsible for the acquisition and expansion of complementary services to broaden ESC’s service footprint. In addition, Mr. McCurdy oversees the day to day operations, employee relations, recruiting, and professional development.
Vice President, Operations
Mr. Mullin is responsible for company operations and implementing processes that continuously improve ESC’s ability to meet customer needs and increase customer and employee satisfaction. He has over 32 years of experience in business operations management. His experience includes HVAC and Temperature Control Project Management, Corporate Operations and Facilities Management, Financial Operations Management and leading Continuous Improvement Initiatives. Mr. Mullin is broadly experienced in implementing Lean Six Sigma improvement methodologies. He is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Sensei and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova University.
Chief Financial Officer
As the Chief Financial Officer of the company, Mr. Begin works closely with management in setting the strategic direction for the company and developing plans to achieve these goals. Mr. Begin has primary responsibility for managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company.
Peter began his career as a CPA with Coopers & Lybrand and has over 27 years of experience as a financial executive. In 2005, Mr. Begin founded The Alternative Board, a business coaching practice specializing in the formation of peer-advisory boards for local business owners. In this capacity, Mr. Begin worked closely with dozens of local business owners as a trusted advisor assisting them in everything from leadership, strategy, employee engagement and finance.
Mr. Begin, a Hartford native, received his BS in Accounting from UCONN, has served as an adjunct professor of finance at UCONN and currently serves as the Treasurer of his church.
Energy Solutions Division Manager
Mr. Amedeo is responsible for leadership of the Energy Solutions Group at ESC. Mike has more than 27 years of experience working with building systems including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, building automation, and security systems. Under his direction, the energy team develops, analyzes, engineers, secures incentive funding and implements energy solutions that have reduced ESC’s customers annual energy consumption by millions of dollars. Prior to joining ESC, Mr. Amedeo was the Director of Engineering for a large Class A multi-tenant facility in Fairfield County, CT. Mr. Amedeo holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and is an active member of AEE® and has completed several professional courses including the Certified Energy Managers training.
Security, Fire / Life Safety, AV Division Manager
Mr. Kus is responsible for the daily operations of the Security, Fire/Life Safety and Audio Visual divisions at ESC. He has over 32 years of diversified Security/Fire Safety industry experience. Mr. Kus has been a Strategic Project Leader for Homeland Security, Department of Defense Contractors, Major Municipalities, National Grid Utilities, Ivy League Universities, and Fortune 50 Companies. Prior to joining ESC, Mr. Kus held management positions with Yale University, and Siemens Building Technologies. He has several certifications including Certified Physical Security Systems Professional, and holds several licenses including the State of CT Electrician and the State of CT Master Radio Television Contractor.
Automation Operations Manager
Mr. Piazza is responsible for all Engineering, Programing, Project Management and all automation installation at ESC. Frank has been with ESC since 2007 and has over 40 years of experience in the building automation industry. Prior to being elevated to his current position at ESC he was and still maintains the position of Account Representative at the Yale School of Medicine for ESC where he is responsible for controls installation in a critical laboratory environment. His experience includes all facets of the building automation industry from installation, service, engineering, project management and corporate management. Prior to joining ESC MR. Piazza held several management positions in the industry.
HVAC / Mechanical Division Manager
Mr. Wish has over 42 years of experience in the HVAC/Mechanical Service industry. He is responsible for the operation of ESC’s HVAC/Mechanical Service Department. In this position, he supports and builds the service client base. His expertise ranges from the installation and servicing of small single zone systems in small buildings to large multi-zone systems in large buildings. His experience covers different types of high and low pressure steam systems, hot water systems, rooftops, chillers, dual-fuel boilers, refrigeration, and various control systems, such as Solidyne, Johnson Metasys, Honeywell Spectra, and Novar. Prior to joining ESC, Mr. Wish was the owner of Northern Mechanical Services which he sold to Pennsylvania Power and Light (PPL)
Automation Services Sales Manager
Mr. Tetreault is responsible for the Automation Service Sales team for ESC. Mr. Tetreault has more than 40 years of experience in the facility management systems industry. His experience includes; technical service, system installation, engineering/design, project management, sales management and corporate management. Prior to joining ESC, Mr. Tetreault held management positions at Universal Building Controls, Automated Building Systems, New England Mechanical Services, Honeywell and Johnson Controls. Mr. Tetreault holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Providence College and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University.
Automation Sales Manager
Ms. Marotta has 13 years of experience in Building Automation and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, M.S. and MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She has earned several certifications through Automated Logic, Johnson Controls, Distech, Siemens Talon, Vykon and Carrier product lines. Lauren’s duties at ESC include representing ESC’s control lines to solve customer problems, perform estimates and assist in the design process.
Mrs. Hill is responsible for the Financial, Customer Service, Human Resources and Administrative functions at ESC. She joined ESC in 2004 and has over 24 years of experience in the construction accounting and operations fields. Prior to joining ESC, Mrs. Hill held an officer level position with another contracting firm for 10 years. Due to her broad ranging experience and background, she is very knowledgeable in all aspects within her area of responsibility.
Corporate Marketing and Business Development Manager
Ms. Protz has 18 years of experience in marketing and business development. Her primary focus is to build awareness of ESC’s multiple divisions among prospective clients, develop and maintain relationships with current and past clients. She leads all branding, marketing, advertising, social media and public relations efforts. Ms. Protz brings vitality, professionalism, warmth and a mindset of service and advocacy to her work with ESC’s clients and fellow team members. Prior to joining ESC, Ms. Protz served in management and sales positions in the entertainment, tourism, art, fashion and firearm industries. She is passionate about the growth of ESC, customer relationships and employee satisfaction.
