NEW EV CHARGING STATIONS COMING TO THE TOWN OF EAST LYME

Environmental Systems Co. (ESC), a Fidelity Building Services Group company and leading provider of building technology solutions throughout New England, recently partnered with the Town of East Lyme, Connecticut, to bring new, high-performance Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure to the community.
In alignment with the Town’s 2020 Plan of Conservation and Development, ESC helped design, procure, and install a network of strategically located EV charging stations, future-proofed to accommodate evolving technology and increasing demand.
At the Town Hall, ESC installed two 50kW DCFC (fast charging) stations and prepared the site for an additional four 9.98kW Level 2 stations. In the Hope Street and Methodist Street public parking lots, ESC delivered two single-port, dual-mounted Level 2 stations at each location, operating at the highest amperage available (80 amps / 19.2kW). All sites are equipped with a Network Access Package (NAP) for load management and scalability.
To optimize efficiency and reduce long-term operating costs, each site received a dedicated new service from Eversource exclusively for EV charging. This allows the Town to participate in the EV Rate Rider Program, which reduces demand charges and helps maintain low user fees.
ESC served as the project’s design-build lead, and secured substantial Eversource rebates for the Town—$248,500 for the Level 3 stations and $40,000 for the Level 2 sites—totaling $328,500 in funding.
All installations meet the U.S. Access Board’s design recommendations for accessibility, ensuring inclusive use through careful attention to space sizing, mounting heights, and equipment placement.
The new EV charging stations are located at:
- Town Hall – Rear parking lot behind Probate Court, 108 (or 118) Pennsylvania Avenue
- Hope Street Public Parking Lot – Exit at 11 Hope Street
- Methodist Street Public Parking Lot – Entrance at 5 Methodist Street
