Mr. McCurdy is the founder and Chairman of ESC. He started ESC in 1972 as an HVAC equipment representative. Today, ESC is a nationally recognized organization in the industry of building automation, security and access systems, energy management solutions, fire and life safety systems, and a full range of mechanical services. His philosophy of creative approaches and solutions for clients’ problems along with superior service is an important key to the growth and success of ESC. Mr. McCurdy holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.
Mr. Craig McCurdy joined ESC in 1977. He has extensive experience in business development, project finance, and operations within the automated controls, security systems, and mechanical services industries. Mr. McCurdy is responsible for the acquisition and expansion of complementary services to broaden ESC’s service footprint. In addition, Mr. McCurdy oversees the day to day operations, employee relations, recruiting, and professional development.
Chief Operating Officer
As chief operating officer at ESC, Mike Mullin is responsible for all operations of the company. Mike provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to guarantee all systems are in place to effectively grow the company, ensure financial strength and efficient operations. With over 32 of years of experience in business operations management, Mike plays an integral role in setting the long-term strategic direction of the company. He leads initiatives that continuously improve ESC’s ability to meet customer needs and increase customer and employee satisfaction. His experience includes HVAC and Temperature Control Project Management, Corporate Operations and Facilities Management, Financial Operations Management and leading Continuous Improvement Initiatives. Mr. Mullin is broadly experienced in implementing Lean Six Sigma improvement methodologies. He is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Sensei and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova University.
Chief Financial Officer
As the Chief Financial Officer of the company, Mr. Begin works closely with management in setting the strategic direction for the company and developing plans to achieve these goals. Mr. Begin has primary responsibility for managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company.
Peter began his career as a CPA with Coopers & Lybrand and has over 27 years of experience as a financial executive. In 2005, Mr. Begin founded The Alternative Board, a business coaching practice specializing in the formation of peer-advisory boards for local business owners. In this capacity, Mr. Begin worked closely with dozens of local business owners as a trusted advisor assisting them in everything from leadership, strategy, employee engagement and finance.
Mr. Begin, a Hartford native, received his BS in Accounting from UCONN, has served as an adjunct professor of finance at UCONN and currently serves as the Treasurer of his church.
Vice President, Field Operations
Ben Denalsky is vice president of Field Operations at ESC. He leads all aspects of the company’s field operations to ensure all projects and services are delivered effectively, efficiently, safely, and on time while monitoring all project financials from start to end. Ben has 28 years of experience in the Contracting and Construction industry and participates in corporate strategic planning and direction setting of the company. Mr. Denalsky is proficient in general knowledge of all construction trades, CAD and similar software platforms, Building Design and Construction, Site Development, Project planning, Implementation, and Management. He holds a B.S. in Forestry/Business Administration from the University of Maine.
Director, Automation Sales
Ms. Marotta has 13 years of experience in Building Automation and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, M.S. and MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She has earned several certifications through Automated Logic, Johnson Controls, Distech, Siemens Talon, Vykon and Carrier product lines. Lauren’s duties at ESC include representing ESC’s control lines to solve customer problems, perform estimates and assist in the design process.
Director, Automation Operations
Mr. Piazza is responsible for all Engineering, Programming, Project Management and all automation installation at ESC. Frank has been with ESC since 2007 and has over 40 years of experience in the building automation industry. Prior to being elevated to his current position at ESC he was and still maintains the position of Account Representative at the Yale School of Medicine for ESC where he is responsible for controls installation in a critical laboratory environment. His experience includes all facets of the building automation industry from installation, service, engineering, project management and corporate management. Prior to joining ESC MR. Piazza held several management positions in the industry.
Director, Security, Fire / Life Safety, AV Sales
Mr. Ceolin comes to ESC with 30 years of experience in the Security, Life Safety industry. He holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada and is certified in Six Sigma, multiple Access Control platforms and Video systems and much more. Prior to joining ESC, Rob held sales management positions at Johnson Controls (Tyco Security Products), Napco Security Technologies, United Technologies and GE Security. His notable projects include Department of Defense, Airforce bases, Major Banking, Commercial Airports and Stadiums across the US and across North America. Rob leads the sales teams for ESC’s Security, Fire / Life Safety, and Audio Visual divisions.
Director, Security, Fire / Life Safety, AV Operations
Mr. Mike brings 24 years of experience to ESC where he manages all Security, Fire and Audio Visual operations. Prior to joining ESC in 2012 he served as Director of central alarm stations and access control at Yale University, and held a Senior Project Management position at Siemens. He has worked on many notable projects such as Eversource, Yale, MDC and several public school systems. Mr. Mike attended trade school, carries an L-5 Contractors license and is PM certified.
Director, Energy Solutions Sales
Mr. Cunningham brings over 12 years of experience in energy conservation to ESC where he is responsible for working with local utility companies to reduce energy consumption and costs to clients in New England. Prior to joining ESC in 2016, he spent a decade at Nxegen, an energy services company where he held a position as Director of Sales. Mr. Cunningham has played key roles in energy conservation projects for CT school systems, retail stores, home improvement stores and in the industrial market.
Director, Strategic Initiatives
Mr. Sullivan has had a career in senior leadership positions leading sales, service and marketing teams on a national level. Most recently, as the National Vice President of Century 21 Real Estate LLC, he led the team overseeing the market share growth of over 1200 franchisees. As the Director of Strategic Initiatives for ESC, Mr. Sullivan is responsible for growing the market share through organic growth as well as securing new opportunities. Mr. Sullivan is leading the development of ESC’s expansion into the cyber security market with the authentication product, ProveID.
Human Resources Manager
Mrs. Duncan is responsible for establishing the Human Resources department at ESC. As the company grows, Kat will guide the organization to focus on talent and strategic workforce growth. With over 11 years of experience working primarily in the IT industry and Higher Education, she is a strategic and results-driven Human Resources leader with a proven ability to bring a positive and collaborative viewpoint to complex organizations. Her career started in recruiting and grew into career counseling. Her passion is to attract and retain top talent by empowering employees to see their potential and possible career paths. Mrs. Duncan holds a B.A. in Communication from UMass Amherst, a M.S. in Communication/Public Relations from Lasell College and is currently earning a M.S. in Human Resources Management from UConn School of Business. She is passionate about the continued satisfaction of employees and aiding in corporate success.
Mrs. Grobe joins ESC with 21 years of accounting experience. In the past she has worked in the non-profit, real estate, manufacturing, and commercial contracting sectors. Colleen has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Columbia College and is proficient in many accounting related software programs. At ESC Mrs. Grobe is responsible for all accounting activities such as job costing, billing, contract administration, bonding, A/P and A/R functions, treasury activities, payroll, taxes and insurance.
Corporate Marketing and Business Development Manager
Ms. Protz has 18 years of experience in marketing and business development. Her primary focus is to build awareness of ESC’s multiple divisions among prospective clients, develop and maintain relationships with current and past clients. She leads all branding, marketing, advertising, social media and public relations efforts. Ms. Protz brings vitality, professionalism, warmth and a mindset of service and advocacy to her work with ESC’s clients and fellow team members. Prior to joining ESC, Ms. Protz served in management and sales positions in the entertainment, tourism, art, fashion and firearm industries. She is passionate about the growth of ESC, customer relationships and employee satisfaction.
