Windham Hospital Receives $324,277 in Energy Incentives

West Hartford, Conn. (March 3, 2018) - Representatives from Environmental Systems Corporation (ESC) and Eversource Energy presented a check to Windham Hospital on Friday for the hospital’s participation in an energy efficiency incentive program. The incentive check pays for over $324,000 of the $405,000 of energy upgrades that the Hospital recently invested in. In addition to the incentive, the Hospital was able improve the operation of their facilities and will get the benefit of long term savings on future energy bills.
The project included the installation of LED lighting, a steam system, steam trap repairs and kitchen hood controls. After the 80% incentive, Windham Hospital paid only $81,069 out of pocket. “The one year payback project produces annual utility savings of $80,578 in addition to the maintenance savings associated with the improvements” said Chris Bibeau, Plant Operations & Site Manager at Windham Hospital. ESC played a key role in the project, serving as the liaison between the Hospital and Eversource Energy. In this role, ESC also identified, designed and implemented the energy conservation measures.
These aggressive utility rebates are not only available to hospitals, they are also offered to many large facilities in the Eversource territory. Like in Windham’s case, facility owners are more likely to qualify for large incentives when they implement multi-measure energy projects. These types of energy efficiency incentives are the most cost-effective ways to collectively save money, create jobs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy security, and reduce the need for additional generation plant construction.
