• How is there no cost to me on this project?

ESC is involved in several utility programs that offer a variety of financing. We also offer third party financing that can create cash flow positive or cash flow neutral energy saving projects.

  • How do I know the savings are real?

The utility provides an unbiased review of all our energy saving calculations.  The firm savings and incentives values come from them.

  • How do I know my light levels will remain the same?

During the energy survey, ESC measures the light levels in each space and interviews the site personnel to make sure they are satisfied with the existing light levels. Then we match the fixtures with a more efficient solution.

  • How do you get paid?

ESC keeps track of our design, development and engineering cost and blend them into the measures, which allows the client to be able to get an incentive of the entire installed cost, including the pre-construction cost.

  • Are there maintenance savings associated with this project?

Yes, often clients do not consider the soft cost that are associated with executing an energy saving project.

  • Where does the incentive money come from?

The utility incentives come from a “tax” on every rate payers electric and gas bill which all gets pooled into a fund that is designed to be applied to help those clients reduce the out of pocket cost of implementing energy saving measures.

  • How much longer will the utilities incentivize LED lighting?

The utilities have realized that a lot of LED lighting has been installed over the years, therefore, they have begun to shift their focus and incentives to non-lighting measures. We predict that lighting incentives will sunset by 2024.
